As I am sure many of you have realised, certainly from the mails I have been getting, I have not kept up with posts to the blog of late.

There is a very good reason for this, which will for those that know me, will become apparent in good time.

So for the moment, let’s just say that I am going to be suspending my political musings via this media but must leave you with one final thought from one, shall we say prominent citizen of Reading on my efforts to date.

“Reading your blog is a bit like visiting a dirty book shop. No one will ever admit to going there but many do & many of those that don’t would love to take a peek.”

Take care my oppressed comrades.

They're Under Starters Orders And !!!!!!

After reading Friday’s edition of the Reading Labour Pravda, it would seem that our local politicians have been very busy beating one another up & supporting worthy causes.

The Fat Controller jibe about Andrew Cumpsty was a bit rich coming from a man who bears a remarkable resemblance to Rasputin the Mad Monk.

Meanwhile, Rob Wilson, Isobel Ballsdon and Richard Willis are all regulars in the news for working on behalf of the people who voted for them and of late new boy Jamie Chowdhary has been making his presence felt, to the great discomfort of Mrs Doubtfire & the rest of the Stalinist cult down at Redinski Square.

However, this week we see a full column in the letters section from Abbey Ward Labour Councillor Mohammed Ayub (better known as the invisible man) on the
NI 35 issue.

Of course my first question is: who helped write this letter? Damien McBride? Or maybe they called in good old Mr Kim from Pyongyang to advise on this one.

In any case, this letter proves my point. Our little red friends down at the Stalin Centre are hell bent on stirring up racial tensions in this town so as to have an excuse for the creation of their very own Stasi (for the uninformed: name of the former East German Secret Police ).

And if this was not enough, good old Cllr Ayub appears once again in the same edition of the Pravda. This time in a photograph with a local residents group trying to reopen the Jolly Anglers Pub.

Wow!! Signing a letter, being photographed and all this in the same week! He’ll need a well earned rest after that!

However, Mohammed was not the only one trying to latch on to the sad plight of the Jolly Anglers. It would seem that Cllr Bet Tickner also got out her map of Reading, located Abbey ward and managed to find the pub just in time for the photo opportunity. Except for a bit of shopping at the Oracle, I think it’s the first time she has been seen in Abbey all year.

Another absentee politician trying to attract votes on the back of this now famous Newtown pub is Labour PPC Anneliese ( Dodgy ) Dodds. Now Martin Salter is standing down, I understand that Dodgy may well be allowed to pay a visit to Reading on the strict understanding that she doesn’t open her mouth.

Finally we cannot forget ( falling around in laughter as he writes ) Reading’s best political joke, Cllr Epps. Yes, he too made the Jolly Angler’s photo shoot and has now decided to conduct a pub survey, which looks like being this week’s project for the Liberals. As with most Epps inspired ideas , he will soon realise that this will still not get him the votes he needs to beat Rob Wilson and he will try and latch on to some other cause in the hope of at least retaining his deposit. Has he ever thought of another career, like being captain of the Titanic?

Well unless the Prime Mentalist does a Bob Mugabe on us, both General & Local Elections are less than a year away, looks like we are in for the usual fun and games.

Ian Dale Comes To Reading

Guess who is coming to town!

Leading political commentator Ian Dale will be the guest speaker at a dinner to be held at Sonning Golf Club by Reading East Conservatives on 16th July

Ian appears regularly on TV & Radio, writes for the Daily Telegraph and is best known for his political blog, Ian Dale’s Diary. http://www.iaindale.blogspot.com/

This is a great opportunity to get up close & personal with a real heavyweight in the world of British political journalism and here is just a taste of the cutting wit & wisdom, entitled:
A preview of next weeks PMQ’s:

DC: What day is it today?
GB: Typical. Can't ask a question about policy. I'll tell you what Tory policy is on days of the week. They want to cut them. They want to cut Thursdays now and if they get in power, they will cut Saturdays as well.

DC: What colour is the sky?
GB: The Tory party is the only party in the world that wants to cut the sky. We have invested in the sky. We have brought forward spending on the sky and increased it by 0% whereas he would cut it by 0% year on year adjusted for real capital spending inflation.

DC: What time is it?
GB: That is up to the Chancellor to decide. I had nothing to do with it.

DC: Should Freddie Flintoff open the bowling at Cardiff tomorrow?
GB: If the pitch, if the pitch, if the pitch takes off cutters and that is the Tory policy. To bowl off cutters, 10% off cutters, from Mr 10%. Yes, you may laugh, but it is his policy. And I ask him, would he prefer to have Ryan Sidebottom bowling his left arm swing up the hill and into the wind?

DC: Do bears crap in the woods?
GB: Bear crapping has risen under this Labour government year on year where it fell under the previous Tory administration. We have invested in crap while they cut it. The previous government, of which he was an advisor, cut crap year on year while we have increased crap year on year in real terms since 1997. The party opposite is the only serious party in the world that is opposed to us increasing crap.

DC: Are you a liar?
GB: Of course I am. Can't think why you didn't just ask that question in the first place.

If you are interested in going to hear more of that, hurry and buy a ticket from:

I hear they are going like hot cakes!

All work, No Benefits & One Busted Flush

Firstly apologies for not keeping the output up over the past few days, but I have been working like a dog & too knackered to write a single line by the time I finished.

For the benefit of any local Labour councillors reading this, work is something that many of us do as a means to make money. It’s a bit like being on benefits but actually helping the economy as well.

If you work really hard, the Government have a special reward scheme whereby you can contribute 40% of whatever you earn in tax.

If you actually become successful and maybe launch your own company or become a director of the company for which you work, you are then allowed to pay 50% tax.

And where does all this tax go?

Yes you’ve guessed it, it pays for all the benefits that Labour like to dole out so as to keep more & more people in the poverty trap & voting labour.

Anyway many thanks to Jane Griffiths and her excellent Blog for keeping laggards like me amused & entertained with the current goings on down at Redinski Square.

It would seem that Comrade Doubtfire ( Cllr Lovelock to her friends ) has been well & truly rattled by Tory new boy Jamie Chowdhary after he brought to the attention of one and all that the handing over of land for the new Mosque to the local Muslim community was finally sanctioned just before the recent European elections.

Well, I suppose we have had Cash for Questions, Cash for Honours, why not Votes for Mosques. It’s certainly not sound policies and a record of good government that’s going to get our little band of reds under the bed re-elected.

I also loved the piece on CRB checks for Councillors, far from keeping it private why not publish the details on the council web sight next to each councillor’s profile. Although I can think of at least one current member of the Labour Cabinet who would not see this as being publicly convenient, if you get my drift.

Anyway it’s good to be back in the old Stalinist Republic again, almost forgotten that great feeling of being persecuted.
